Sex Survey Responses

Over the years, many of you have been kind enough to take my sex survey on this website. So for the past two weeks, I have turned the column over to you. Today's column has some of the men's responses (PG-13 version) that were given during the past month.

Q. What were some of the false assumptions you had about sex when you were growing up?

"All women pant and moan during sex." --male, age 43

"That being a virgin was a good thing. I have had sex with the same woman for 18 years. It has been very nice, but I always wonder what would have been different with other women." --male, age 39

"I assumed that I would be an expert by now. Sex is still a learning process. It seems to be more of a facet of our relationship--succeptible to any and all of the trauma that befalls a relationship--rather than something you just learn how to do." --male, age 26

"I thought it would be simple. It has become more complicated in many ways. It is sometimes about control, sometimes about lust, sometimes about love." --male, age 41

"That it was this end all be all thing in a relationship. When in reality it is a small portion of what a loving relationship is all about." --male, age 26

"I never imagined that women would like it so much." --male, age 24

"That only guys with sexual problems ever had problems getting it up. That was, until it happened to me." --male, age 39

Q. If you've had sex with different women, are there differences in the way they want to be touched?

"Some like it missionary, some like it with me behind. Some liked me to finger them and touch their G-spot, some preferred intercourse. One woman loved to watch me during sex, another preferred to close her eyes. Some liked to be kissed during sex, one woman got clausterphobic when my head was in her face." --male, age 26

"Some wanted to be on top, some never wanted to be on top. One partner couldn't come from oral sex, another wanted nothing but my mouth. All of my partners have been different." --male, age 28

Q. If you've lived in a dorm or had to share a room, how did you handle masturbation?

"Sometimes we'd just tell the person they need to leave for awhile or to take their time at the store." --male, age 23

"Showers only -- it's a lot easier to wash the results down the drain. Back in the first couple of years after the sperm factory opened, though, I'd wait till I was sure my brother was asleep, then masturbate with as little movement as possible." --male, age 20

"We would just wait for the other person to go to work or fall asleep. If you walked in on someone, you just said sorry and walked right back out. It never bothered any of us." --male, age 25

Q. How have different vaginas felt?

"Every vagina has felt different in every way, from tight to loose, wet to dry, lube to natural juices, etc." --male, age 25

"Some are tighter. some are angled differently. Some are wetter. Some feel pinker." --male, age 41

"Some are shallow (where I hit bottom), some are deep where I can never hit bottom, some grip tight and throb after their orgasm, some never do. Some get very wet, some mostly stay dry. Some are loose, some are tight. But they all feel good to me!" --male, age 39

Q. Morning erections: how do manage to pee with one, and how do you make it to the bathroom if you live with others?

"You stick your butt out and attempt to aim." --male, age 18

"Sit down, bend it down, and proceed with caution." --male, age 41

"Either go in the shower or do contortions to get it pointed at the toilet." --male, age 25

"I have to stand a little further from the toilet with one arm outstretched against the wall behind the toilet and lean forward so I can get my penis pointed down enough to pee." --male, age 39

"The trick is to wear boxers and then shorts over the boxers. I put the elastic waist of the shorts on my penis so it stays flat against my body." --male, age 19

"I slept over at my girlfriend's house and her dad woke me up because I slept through the alarm. When I got up my penis was sticking out of my boxers and he said, 'Well thats why she's dating you.' Never could go to her house again because of my shame." --male, age 23

Q. When erect, does your penis go straight out, or ???

"It curves slightly to the left, so that I can f**k around corners." --male, age 23

Q. Besides turning pages or using your mouse, what do you do with your other hand when masturbating?

"It tends to be a free range hand. Sometimes it cups my testicles, sometimes it provides separation/support for my back against the (sometimes chilly) shower wall, sometimes it just rests against my thigh." --male, age 20

"Before I got your guide, I was a click and turn page kinda guy. Now I'm trying other things. I like using two hands twisting in opposite directions--or using one hand to pull the skin tight on my penis. Using oil rather than lotion has helped out a lot. For years I needed one hand free just to reapply." --male, age 26

"Use it to keep the blankets from getting lube on them." --male, age 23

Q. As a teenager, how did you find private places to have sex?

"My favorite was having sex on the floor in the room over my parent's garage when they were out somewhere. When the garage door motor clicked on and started vibrating the floor we had just enough time to finish, clean up, button up, and act natural before my parents walked in." --male, age 26

"Only sex aid I've ever used or needed was a bit of vasoline on the bedroom door knob. Keep the kids out." --male, age 63
