About the Author & Publisher

Paul Joannides is a research psychoanalyst, which means he went to school for way too long. He is on the editorial board of the American Journal of Sex Education. Paul is also the cow superintendant at his county fair. He lives on a remote bay in the beautiful Northwest with his wife, daughter, dogs and small herd of livestock.

Paul writes (and rewrites, and rewrites, and rewrites) the Guide, typesets it, and handles the marketing. In all of the years he has been working on The Guide, the new 5th edition is the first he's ever been happy with.

Paul's wife Toni is an attorney. She makes sure what Paul writes is organized, flows well, and makes sense to readers. This, unfortunately, is a full time job. It requires a great deal of patience, and a keen awareness of how to line up disparate Rubik's-cube like elements into a cohesive whole.

There are dozens of experts around the world who have contributed their time and expertise to making sure that The Guide is the best it can possibly be. They are usually mentioned at the end of each chapter, although they sometimes prefer to remain anonymous. Their help has often been immediate and invaluable.

Readers remain at the heart of what is good about The Guide. Since the very begining, they have been generous with their survey-taking, with their suggestions for improvements, and with their frequent & kind communications that make the constant 60+ hour weeks feel worth it.

About the Illustrator

Dærick Gröss Sr. is an internationally recognized illustrator of fantasy and comic book art. It is difficult to think of The Guide without his wonderful touch. Thanks to Dærick's special magic, the characters in this book are able to have sex when its covers are closed. This is why they are always smiling.

Dærick has contributed dramatically to The Guide's success. He lives in Simi Valley, California.

About Goofy Foot Press

No upstanding publisher in America believed they could sell a book on sex that was both intelligent and had a sense of humor. They rejected The Guide in droves. So Paul hocked all he owned and started Goofy Foot Press. Before long, most of the publishers who had originally thought that Americans were too dumb to read a smart book on sex started offering serious amounts of money to buy the rights. Undaunted and unimpressed, one of America's smallest presses continues to publish one of its biggest and best books on sex.

About Publishers Group West

Soon after Goofy Foot Press was founded, the Fates brought it under the wing of the planet's biggest and finest independent book distributor, Publishers Group West. It is not possible to think of a more fortuitous union, or a better group of people to work with. PGW has made a business out of their love for the written word, and they have provided a home that has allowed The Guide to grow and flourish.
