Amusement parks, theme parks and water attractions can be great fun. After all, that's their sole purpose—to inspire you to have so much fun that you'll want to come back time and again.

COST and DISCOUNT HUNTING

Since single day admission prices sometimes exceed thirty or forty dollars, here are some tips for having fun without having to take out a loan or visiting a sperm bank. Call the theme park and ask what discounts they are offering.

Does the company you work for offer discount tickets to any of the local amusement parks?

Do you belong to AAA or another travel club? Inquire from these organizations about discounts.

Check soda cans and food boxes for discount tickets.

Are any of the local supermarkets and restaurants sponsoring discounts to amusement and theme parks?

Call your local tourist office. Ask if they have discount tickets.

If the amusement park you want to visit has a website, check it out for possible discount offers.

AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION...

If it's summer, watch out for dehydration and sunburn. Force yourself to drink plenty of water even if you aren't thirsty, and be sure to lather yourself up with sunscreen lotion.

If you go to a water park, bring an extra change of dry clothes and waterproof sunscreen.

Save yourself a lot of embarrassment—write down where you parked.

If you plan to arrive during the day but stay until late at night, consider bringing two sets of clothes. At some amusement parks, you can roast during the day and nearly freeze at night.

ARCADE CHALLENGE

Head to the bank for a few rolls of quarters. Then find the local arcade. Offer your date a challenge: whoever wins at the end of the evening has to give the other a backrub or ???
